MAPLEWOOD LIBRARY GIVE-AWAY (MAY 15, 2010)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On a nice Saturday in May, RCB provided 25 bikes and helmets for refugee kids in the Maplewood neighborhood, afterwhich, RPD Bike Patrol Officer Len Carfley held a safety clinic for the kids. After instructing them on the proper use of hand signals and rules of the road, Officer Carfley led the kids through a course set up in the Aquinis Institute parking lot, demonstrating turning and stopping techniques. Our sincere thanks to Shelley Matthews, a librarian at the Maplewood Library for organizing this event, and to Sgt. William Mahoney and Officer Carfley of the Rochester Police Department for providing the well-received clinic! (Photos by Steven Sparer)
